“Wow! I tried hearing aids for the first time the other day and what a difference they made. So much so that I wanted to share that experience with others and encourage those that are struggling with hearing to consider the same. I walked out of the doctor’s office and heard sounds long forgotten.

Over the last few years, my hearing has gradually diminished but I didn’t want to admit it. It was so gradual that I hardly noticed, until recently, when at a social function I was at a loss for what was being said. Background noises all but made conversations impossible. I finally had to admit to myself that I needed help (not an easy thing for us vain humans).

I told my wife I thought I needed hearing aids. Of course, she always knew I did but was kind enough to indulge my situation until I was ready. I was ready.  I was just missing too much and finding myself withdrawing from social interactions.

So this letter is to the people out there putting off the inevitable for whatever reasons. I cannot tell you what a wonderful surprise it was to hear again! Sounds long forgotten, like birds chirping and crickets at night, came back. Give yourself a chance to connect again. Your family and friends will thank you and you will be amazed!”
